Christmas “sfince” – Sfince di Natale

Ingredients for 8 persons

  • 2 lbs of flour
  • 1 lbs of boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 5 tbsp of Marsala
  • 1 sachet of vanillin
  • 1 of brewer’s yeast
  • 1/2 orange
  • 2 teaspoons of anisseds
  • milk
  • water
  • vegetable oil
  • caster
  • sugar
  • cinnamon
  • salt

 

Preparation
Pour the flour in a bowl with the mashed potatoes, the yeast melted in 1 cup of milk, the Marsala wine, the vanillin, some salt, some grated orange peel, and the aniseeds. Add the necessary water to obtain a very soft pastry. Knead till the pastry is ropy and cover. Let leaven for about 1 hour. From little doughnuts and fry them in deep hot oil, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
