ART CRITICISM

The layout of the graphic of the mage gives and carries the space into a two dimentional effect and alludes to it spaciousness through a background with its gradiation of tones. The works are landscapes, still life and some figural; my preference are for those beautiful imaginary fairytale landscapes.

Experiencing Rosa Maria Ponte’s work is to share in her tremendous zest for life. The world she creates is that of which dreams are made of. Her use of color brings vibrancy and life to each of her creations, as they illustrate her deep appreciation and respect to diverse cultures. Rosa’s joyful spirit and her magnificent images will forevermore be with me. Brava e grazie, Rosa!

Rosa Maria Ponte has a very personal approach to art, seen in her paintings as strong and intense hues that are embellished in the right spots, by ornament. It can not be classified as any particular style, although it shows assimilation that have responsive cultural foundations, and a beautiful gift of easy usability, communicating pleasing impressions, arousing admiration and acclaim.
Antonino De Rosalia
Rosa Maria Ponte is certainly paying attention to the magic of colors that are surrounding her...

Describing the impression and sensations that Rosa Maria Ponte works provoke is not an easy thing. The colors are formed as a grid of light seen through a veil, through which a search a well-defined for something, at first sight, is not found . With such a search when observing the predominantly young and feminine figures’ eyes it immediately becomes evident, these forms aspire in the search for love, life, and something that when getting inside the character could change their faces with hints of smiles and serenity giving pleasure and contentment. Thus, the search continues and the eyes are straining forward a apce the artist fills with more. This sensation is also reflected in the still life, that seem to be lying on the ground waiting for the wind to caress and bring them into life. Through color and highlights the artist captures the spirit of the observer and urges him to find something that goes beyond the earth up to the supernatural.

The title of the exhibition of Mary Rose Ponte "Painting as a fable," held last year at Villa Niscemi creates an affable reflection that emanated from the displayed canvases for which the author, in our view can be called “a painter of the imagination”. In a methodological sampling of figurative Sicilian paintings, Rosa Maria Ponte’s production can be ascribed to the line of individual artists who are outside of any particular trend; those who wish to roam independently in their own fantasy filled itinerary.
Antonio Martorana
A painting technique determined, intense, that enhances features and contours, which is opens to feelings of sensuality, but also to heat and light. Her Sicilian heritage emerges is clear, and gives impetus to works extolling the charms of women, giving shine to nature shine, and depth to the landscape.
Francesco Musotto
The charm of these paintings lies precisely in their extreme purity, in showing worldly emotions, of tenderness and memory and at the same time, secretive and strong with appeal to pulsating existence. Grace and subtle emotion surround us in a convincing atmosphere, with its clear light, with careful measured tones where the jolt of the senses settles down with sublime thought, meditation and contemplation of the soul.

The first thing that strikes you when viewing Rosa Maria Ponte’s paintings is their vibrant colours. In them one can discern a refining of Van Gough’s brushstrokes, the colours of the Fauve, and the busy canvas of Klimt. All these elements combine to create her own unique individual style, where movement in her images, brings her paintings of nature back to life. There is innocence in her figurative, landscape and fable painting not seen since the tapestries of medieval times. These are works worth noting.

Rosa Maria Ponte in the last few years has achieved, with sureness of her graphic and compositional techniques, greater appreciable results, that are evident in the increased complexity of the perspective structures, in the versatility and force of her invention and her masterly use of colors….her paintings emphasize and highlights her research into the combined subjects of dreams and narrative. This quest for the narrative painting seems to be the direction in which Ponte’s recent works are pointing at with their confidnet design and the description of the complexity of the human story it appears to be the subject for future development.

A common denominator, in these paintings is the “transparency”, that makes Rosa Maria Ponte “style”. Successful and characterized by a peculiar and very personal painting technique that arises directly from feelings combined with a strong romantic inspiration.

I have seen Rosa Ponte’s outstanding works of art. She is truly artistic, creative and colorful. Her paintings reflect a deep and rich thought into all that she evidences. The colors are vibrant, alive and festive. Truly a grand artist! And she is ever so proud and reflective of her rich and colorful work.

When observing Rosa Maria Ponte paintings, the many <<heroic>> moments of in the great nineteenth-century painting come to mind. The pleasant structuring is followed by the brushstrokes. In her most successful works, the paths and patterns are well organized, both in respect to their spatiality as well as in the reflected light of the forms. Thus her admirable sensitivity to color, allows her to graduate shades with interesting dynamic effects of the forms.
